The Cardiff & District Law Society Annual Dinner 2020 will return to the incredible ‘Trading Floor’ Ballroom at the Exchange Hotel, Cardiff on the 15th May 2020.

CDLS will return to the stunning Exchange Hotel in Cardiff Bay for this year’s dinner (the venue formerly known as the Coal Exchange Building). The dinner will take place in the exquisitely renovated Coal Exchange trading floor – a room that’s like no other in the capital city of Wales.

The largest legal dinner in South Wales

CDLS invites it’s members, those working in and with legal brands in and around Cardiff, affiliated industries and students to join the Society on Friday 15th May 2020 for a night filled with entertainment, heritage and celebration of our successful, sustainable, innovative and internationally regarded legal community.

The 2019 Annual CDLS Dinner was the largest the Society had ever hosted, and the largest the venue has ever hosted and tickets are selling out. (For the CDLS plans for Covid-19 regarding the event, please see below.)

The Sparkling Reception will be followed by a stunning three-course meal with wine, entertainment, a welcome from CDLS President Steve Roberts, Richard Nelson LLP, and the ability to mingle with colleagues old and current, your peers, the judiciary, representatives from the Law Society, the Law Gazette, CILEx, the Bar and other regional law societies.

The Society will also announce the winners of the CDLS Legal Awards 2020.

Guest Speaker: Will Millard

Will Millard, writer, BBC presenter, public speaker, and expedition leader, will join CDLS on the night as the guest speaker. Will will talk about overcoming adversity in challenging environments, which reflects our President’s focus on Mental Health and Wellbeing in the legal profession, during his presidential year.

Born and brought up in the Fens, Will presents remote Anthropology and Adventure series for BBC Two, and series on Rivers, Urban Exploration, and History for BBC Wales. In 2016 he won the BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Presenter and in 2019 his series ‘My Year with the Tribe’ won the Realscreen award for Travel and Exploration. His series have also received nominations for Best Series and Best Presenter in the Grierson, Broadcast, Bannf, Kendal, and the Televisual Bulldog Awards.

“Millard is a natural presenter…Even when faced with aggression from tribes people who have no idea who this sunburnt stranger is he wins them – and us – over with his warmth. This man is one to watch” – Radio Times
